- Course overview
Those of us who work in communications have (frankly) created a completely self-perpetuating, bamboozling myth of a sector. It’s as if we designed it to frustrate and over complicate; to confound and confuse but it doesn’t have to be that way!
- Overall course aim
Everyone working in the third sector can play a positive part in the promotion of your charity’s mission and work - you just need to think, plan and be organised.
You all have amazing stories to tell, which can influence funders, stakeholders, civic and elected leaders, your supporters and the wider public. So, we’re going to ban the jargon, cut out the codswallop and create a bunkum-free zone by giving you a really (and we mean “really”) practical day of learning.
- Course objectives
- You’ll look at some of the why, where, when, how behind comms and marketing during class discussions and group work. You’ll look at good (free or almost free) tools, which will help you build some imaginative marcomms campaigns. Then you’ll plan and execute a campaign (and present it for fun!), maybe setting up a demo Twitter account, Facebook page, media call, or stakeholder event. You’ll take a real, live plan back to base after picking up new skills:
- why marketing & communications matters – particularly the need to sell internally
- know your comms options – looking at the “traditional” and “digital” ways we can communicate
- curate a list of ways to tell stories – and how to decide what to do
- learn about video and design
- Who was the course aimed at?
- This course is aimed at anyone new to communications and marketing in the workplace and/or third sector, or wishes to refresh their existing skills.
- Entry requirements
- There are no formal entry requirements.
