Creation Mill is a new social enterprise set up in November 2021 with ambitious plans to play a significant role in the revitalisation of the textile industry in Langholm.Our vision is to revitalise and support the textile industry in Langholm by providing training opportunities to young people, those out of work or who want to retrain and also support textile art for enjoyment and wellbeing for all ages, doing this as sustainably as possible by opting for a circular textiles ethos. Creation Mill’s plan is to focus on skilling up young people and the wider community for roles in a revived textile industry, and its focus on sustainability is in complete alignment with the Community Plan. The Community Plan looks to respond to the changing economic landscape and consumer demands, shifting its focus towards tourism and support for small-business start-ups. To make this possible, the town wants to build on its natural assets – its beautiful rural setting and its rich heritage.
