Al Manar Community Association is a new-born project in West Lothian aims to :1- Promote the interests of Muslim Minority Ethnic Groups and Refugees in West Lothian, and to help them settle and integrate in the local community by incorporate job readiness training, increased language and skills support, and access to schools and childcare.Also, to: 2- Provide a safe and welcoming spaces to members where they can gather without fear of discrimination, harassment, or prejudice, by arranging regular gatherings, classes, and events which will be designed to include all age groups and vulnerable people.We work with Muslim refugee from Syria and Afghanistan and other Muslim minorities. Project’s Objectives: To support inclusion into local communities and improve awareness of Scottish culture and way of life. To provide a safe and secure environment for members to meet, socialise, and develop their community and extended network connections. To cultivate effective partnerships with West Lothian Council, health services, education, DWP, community benefits organisations, as well as other services within Lothians and all Scotland. To operate on an equal opportunities’ basis at all times. To encourage members to integrate into the community and become more independent through empowerment and skills development. The actions the association will take to achieve its objectives:a. Safe and Welcoming Spaces: The association is committed to creating safe and welcoming spaces where members can gather without fear of discrimination, harassment, or prejudice. All members have the right to be treated with respect and dignity.b. Events, gatherings, and social initiatives will be organised to facilitate interaction, promote cultural exchange, and strengthen bonds between members.c. Cultural Sensitivity: The association acknowledges and celebrates the diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences of its members. Cultural sensitivity and respect for different customs, traditions, and beliefs are fundamental values upheld within the community.d. Confidentiality and Privacy: The association recognizes the importance of maintaining confidentiality and privacy. Members' personal information and sensitive discussions will be handled with utmost care and confidentiality, ensuring the privacy and security of all individuals involved.Empowerment: The association is committed to empowering its members by providing them with the necessary resources, support, and opportunities to take control of their lives and become active contributors to their community. This empowerment is achieved through various means:a. Skill Development: By offering classes, workshops, and educational opportunities, the group equips its members with practical skills and knowledge. This empowers them to pursue personal and professional goals, enhancing their self-confidence and independence.b. Language Acquisition: To enable members to become more confident in communicating in English.
